I hate waking up in the morning. It makes me feel groggy and spoils the entire day...unless it's compulsory, like going to work. Otherwise wake up after 8:30 am and then go about with your day. More productive than being a sleepyhead all day.
P.S. Check out "In Otter News" if you haven't already. Today, Brad and Steve are floating on their backs and talking about "being productive today. LOL! (Where the hell are the Imogis in Substack, I can't find them ... sigh!)
I love your reflections this morning! Perhaps it's a generational thing, a sort of "protestant" work ethic. It has taken me a long time to stop these infernal internal debates and just be happy that I've made the beds before noon. I dislike the "retirement" language which always feels like formalizing a copout of some sort; it's become a time of contentment and blessed solitude and rediscovering that I like to sketch and paint, and read a bazillion books, and just stare into my dog's golden eyes, after decades of public service jobs and teaching undergrads and taking care of others.
The more convinced I am that I am a morning person - the best part of me, the most sublime, is that morning guy - and the more driven I am to wake up at 4 or 5 am, guaranteed, I wake up at 8 that day! Go to bed early? Still 8. Late? Still 8.
I am the evening guy. 🤷♂️
So now the yoga has shifted to the evenings. But the battle goes on..

I hate that groogy feeling in the morning as well.
I am a morning raver, I miss all the night time fun because I’m asleep by 8pm 😂
But I really love how you brought it back to the simplicity of taking a step not a leap.
I snap myself out of it with seeing it as a dance, small imperfect steps, make it fun and you’ll actually enjoy it and work more of the floor 💃🏻
Thank you for reading and liking the post 🙏

Sounds to me like you have earned whatever you want your retirement to be Jo Anne 😊
Morning Brad :o) *passes a coffee
Myself, I am a carer. I live by the adage: I am neither an early bird nor a night owl. Rather I am an exhausted pigeon :o)
This week I am getting to bed around 2.30 am and I am up around 7.30 am. Sleep is for the weak! LOL
You can make yourself ill with only 5 hours sleep, though 😊
LOLOLOLOLOLOL *Breathe…
It’s been… *checks calendar 35 years without sleep :o) and now I am disabled ;o)
Bless you!
Oh, I didn't mean to be intrusive
You absolutely are not :o) Your piece is brilliant - we can all do with a thinking reset to achieve goals right now. I just laugh is all ;o)
Thank you 🙏
Yeah, it is the eternal struggle for some.

Yes it’s not a battle with a final conclusion. It’s a lifetime of keeping fit and healthy so you actually get a lifetime
