100%. He is selling that you can be rich and he'll show you. Like all these hustle culture bros, it's fake.
He was also super caught up in the paid NFT pumping promotional stuff because his platform is selling his platform to you.
Lastly and I can't say this strongly enough, even if his bullshit hustle 18h day worked, I still don't care and wouldn't miss out on the rest of my life for it.
My previous boss loved him and it drove me crazy. I just like people calling it out. With all the toxic bro culture that goes hand in hand with 'hustle', overt rejection is always welcome.
I dislike how success is often viewed through the eyes of these "gurus" all the time. Success means different things to different people, and no one should be criticized for what success means to them.
I used to be a huge fan of Gary V. I admired his tell-it-like-it-is style and hard work ethic, but I've also experienced burnout. The problem is, his brand hasn't evolved. Young people are realizing that you don't have to choose between ambition and well-being. Successful people aren't the ones who work the longest, but those who work effectively while maintaining their health, relationships, and sanity.
I think this ridiculous standard is why people say "no one wants to work anymore." I think a lot of us, young and old understand it takes hard work to be successful. But sacrificing our own dreams while building others' for meager wages is not all that appealing. Even building something of our own takes a work/rest cycle that makes it sustainable, enjoyable and ultimately more satisfying. Sure you can have an empire in two short years, but no one to enjoy it with. Who dies saying, "I wish I'd worked more?"
I was a single parent when my kids were growing up. I had a job that required maybe 50 hours a week. I made enough to own a small house and have the luxuries of the middle class -nice clothing, good car... Now I live below the poverty line, I love spending time with my kids and grandchildren, I still have luxuries but not as many as I did then. And I have really wonderful memories of the entire ride. Wouldn't trade it for the world.
What you say is so true. People fall for this because they need to make money, and they are taken advantage of. I've been online since 2009, and it's been the same for all this time. Thank you for reading the article and liking it. I appreciate it 😊
Gary V certainly pushed the hustle down our throats and made a solid imprint in our culture that took us away from centre. Yet we fall for it! Seems like most folks in the creative online space have tuned in to his work at one time or another (I know I had a brief dally down that road) but, as you said Brad, it leaves us feeling empty and less-than.

If it looks too good to be true, it probably is.
100% agree with you. He makes his money by selling you a dream. It fools so many. Thanks for reading and liking my post 😊

It’s effective working, as you say, that counts 😊
Brad, you nailed this so nicely. "The Privilege Issue" roped me in for the rest of this piece. Well put. Thank you for sharing.
Thanks very much for reading and liking the post
Excellent points.

Mala, I 100% agree with everything you wrote. Thanks you for taking the time to read and like my post 😊
When I was first introduced to Gary's work, I thought "yuck!"
My opinion hasn't changed
I'm with you. My opinion never changed either. Thanks for reading and liking my post. 😊

That’s great MaryBeth. It’s great to be around family 😊
Brad , you just said the truth about today's hustle culture...
I never subscribed to this idea of working 18 hours a day..
Is life all about work?
Burnouts , anxiety depression all stem from overwork and stress
Why do people advocate hustle culture when they very well know it is detrimental to health and hinders mental growth ...
Everything is commercialised to the extent that we have to pay for happiness to experience it...😲
